Welcome to my site. In my pursuit for creative self-expression, experimentation with different mediums and techniques has been an area of concentration. I like the challenge of the unknown, especially from initial concept to eventual construction. Even though I aim to create pieces that are aesthetically pleasing, the logic and science behind the possibilities and limits of the act of building, are my rhyme and reason.
Rontherin Ratliff, a native of New Orleans, was introduced to art at an early age as he witness his mother designing everything from clothing to wooden toys. Working along side his father he assisted in bringing her ideas to life. He credits his father for his skilled craftsmanship. Now he is a multi-faceted artist, working in such diverse media as sculpture, mural, and graphic design.
Rontherin Ratliff, a New Orleans artist who was a student and is now employed by the YAYA program has produced "Way Down Yonder in New Orleans," a sculptural tribute to the Crescent City musical tradition at the Norman Mayer Branch Library, 3001 Gentilly Blvd., in Gentilly.
